Led Zeppelin's Song Naming

Image
A sample of Led Zeppelin Albums One noticeable characteristic of Led Zeppelin is that the names of some of their songs don't even mention the title in the lyrics, or if they do, it's a subtle one and done. So many bands will repeat the name of the song over and over ad nauseum in their lyrics, which can get very annoying, especially if the lyrics themselves are bad. Not for Led Zeppelin. Some of my favorite songs that do that are as follows: D'yer Mak'er , Kashmir , Hot Dog , and Carouselambra , just to name a few. Obviously, not all of there songs do that. Hey Hey, What Can I Do? , Communication Breakdown , Good Times, Bad Times , Whole Lotta Love are repeated multiple times, and it is quite clear that these are the titles of the songs.

Modding Near Midnight

Image
Modding Near Midnight I'm a big fan of mods for games. I like them because of the added content that expands on the base game. I understand the dev process is a long one. It takes time to code, create models, record voice lines, etc. Eventually people playing will run out of stuff to do, and they need more stuff to keep them engaged. Game devs solve this in many ways such as adding DLC, releasing expansion packs, new game modes, etc. The easiest way to keep interest for a game going even after support has stopped is to allow people to modify/add content.  If a gamer reads about a mod that adds content they like to a game they haven't played, or may not have had an interest in playing, they may be more likely to pick up a copy of the game. Sometimes a game may have been released broken, or it isn't able to run on newer OSs. Modding can help fix both of those. Emulating is also another option for the second part, one of the most well known being DOSbox, but that's ...

Clive Cussler

Some of the books by one of my favorite authors, Clive Cussler What you see is a nice chunk of works by Clive Cussler. For a time I couldn't get enough of his stuff. I've read Valhalla Rising, Corsair, Vixen 03, Inca Gold, Sahara, Black Wind, Fire Ice, Golden Buddha , and a few more. One of my favorite parts of his books is when he inserts himself into the story, usually as a plot device that keeps the characters moving forward. His series are The Oregon Files , The NUMA Files , Isaac Bell Adventures , and Fargo Adventures . He's not just a fiction writer, however. He's written five non-fiction books as well. He's also founder and current Chairman of the NUMA Advisory Board of Trustees, with his son Dirk as President. NUMA stands for National Underwater and Marine Agency, and is originally a fictional organization that employs his character Dirk Pitt in the Dirk Pitt Adventure series. NUMA has found the wrecks of the Carpathia , Marie Celeste, the ironclad Man...

Pearl Harbor

Image
Souvenir from my trip to Pearl Harbor in 2015 I have always been a big fan of military history, so when my family and I went to Hawaii over the summer of 2015, I was pretty excited. We went to Pearl Harbor on the third day in Hawaii. The long line was well worth the wait. The Arizona memorial was solemn, the Missouri is an impressive ship, and the museums that are scattered around were very interesting. Along with thee hat you see there,  also got a Pearl Harbor shirt that's currently with me at college. It's a bit too hot to wear it now, but I try to wear it at least once very week when the temperature is fine. Maybe I will go back there in the future, hopefully with a family of my own.

Music Standards from the 20s to the early 50s

Music Standards from the 20s to the early 50s I am a broadcast communication major at North Central and I deejay on WONC. From Sunday, 12 to 3 p.m., I host Sunday Standards, featuring music from the 20s to the 50s. The two major influences for the love of that type of music was from CDs like this and traveling to and from Wisconsin with my grandmother listening to satellite radio. It's probably my favorite thing I've done for radio, as there is a reason this music is called standards. They're timeless, regarded as legendary music that has influenced too many artists to mention. Rod Stewart released an excellent five album series covering this type of music, The Great American Songbook series. His voice is perfect for singing those songs, and I highly recommend you pick up some of these if you like this kind of music. He's not the only artist to do so. Bob Dylan released Triplicate in March of last year. Steve Tyrell has built his career on such albums. La...
